Caught on camera: Doctor assaulted by ‘alcoholic’ patient at Telangana Hospital

A female junior doctor was allegedly assaulted by a patient at a state-run hospital in Telangana’s Secunderabad.
The attacker allegedly grabbed the doctor’s hand and pulled her apron, harassing her in the process at Gandhi Hospital.
The medical staff quickly intervened, rescuing the doctor from the situation. The incident has caused widespread outrage among doctors and the medical fraternity.
According to Gandhi Hospital Deputy Superintendent Dr Sunil Kumar, a patient named Prakash from Bansilalpet arrived at the casualty with complaints of seizures and convulsions. While undergoing examination, Prakash suddenly became aggressive and attempted to assault a female doctor, grabbing her hand.
A video clip of the incident has since surfaced.

It is believed that his aggressive behaviour may have been triggered by chronic alcoholism, leading to his current state.
A complaint was lodged with the police, and the assailant was later detained.

The hospital authorities stated that measures are underway to bolster security, including the installation of additional CCTV cameras and strengthening the special police force presence, particularly in high-risk areas like the casualty department.
